Closed-Captions and TECNOCATO HD
To share tecnocato with an international audience, I decided to caption my video podcast (in English) some time ago. Needless to say that this is NOT easy and it does consume a lot of resources.
The purpose of this post is to share with you the latest developments and drawbacks from implementing this technology with HD podcasts.
The next episode (#006) will be delivered in both HD and SD resolutions. Due to the demands of decoding HD material (by your device), the “CC” button, that is used to activate captions, will not be available in the HD version. It will stay in the SD version.
To activate the closed-captions in the iPod (SD) version, click on the CC icon located at the top left corner. Please have in mind that viewing the video at full-screen resolution may slow down playback. My advise: watch at the actual size for a better viewing experience. The iPod version is supposed to play in the Apple TV also but at SD resolution (640×480 max).
I am posting the SD first to have new subscriptions get the HD version first… iTunes and other download the latest as default.
